A recent contract award to Navient, the nation’s leading loan management, servicing and asset recovery company, will help the state of Indiana collect outstanding tax liabilities.
Navient, a local employer, has been awarded a performance-based contract from the Indiana Department of Revenue. Under the terms of the contract, Navient will assist with the Tax Amnesty 2015 program, which allows taxpayers who have past-due taxes a limited-time opportunity to pay the base tax liability free of penalties, interest and collection fees.
“The department looks forward to working with Navient to achieve the goals of Tax Amnesty 2015,” said Department of Revenue Deputy Commissioner Jim Poe. “Their expertise will aid the state during this short-term campaign.”
Beginning September 15, Indiana taxpayers who owe individual or business taxes from periods prior to January 1, 2013 can participate in Tax Amnesty 2015. The state will waive penalties, interest and collection fees if the base tax is paid in full or the taxpayer enters an approved payment plan for the full base tax liability by November 16, 2015.
“Navient is an experienced tax amnesty administrator and we’re pleased to partner with the Department of Revenue to collect outstanding tax liabilities,” said Jack Frazier, vice president, Navient. “We’re ready to put our collection and default aversion skills to work for the state and its taxpayers.”
Navient’s asset recovery service is among the largest and top-performing operations in the country. A growing number of government clients rely on Navient’s suite of collection solutions for proven performance to meet their financial goals.
